Özet

The main factor which enabled the Ottoman idea and practice to exist for a long time and the state to live for 600 years is the principle ?Justice is the foundation of the state?. The Ottoman Empire gave a particular importance to the justice from its classical period to the disintegration period. While the courts which were founded everywhere of the state ensured the justice, the court records have opened significant horizons for the researchers. The raw information historians acquired from the judicial register records(register records related to Shari'a) also gives information about the history of the local as well as the social and economic life of the country. In Seydişehir district of our Konya city 12 registers were kept. Our research subject is the judicial register records with the number of 235 from Seydişehir Judicial Registers. Seydişehir judicial register records with the number of 235 consist of 67 notifications and arguments. The register records carry the events which people of Seydişehir, a small Ottoman district after the Reforms, experienced between 1890 and 1892 to the future. In our research about Seydişehir registers, important information about the legal struggles of women, relationship with the minorities, economic conditions of the period, family institution, inheritance affairs and proxies has been acquired.
