Özet

Human beings in every culture and every period feel the requirement of monuments and commemoration since the monuments convey the events and pains that societies have experienced to the present via various physical representations. However, in the rapidly changing world, the concept of counter-monument emerged as the concept of the monument does not counterpart with the concept of semantic and stylistic monument. In time, the concept of counter-monument has been seen as a problem in the disciplines of architecture and art. The main aim of this study is to introduce and to discuss the discourse of counter-monument in the intersection of architecture and art disciplines. Moreover, the study aims to make the relationship between architecture and art through the concept of counter-monument reappear. In this context, the study consists of four chapters; The General Information, The Achieved Studies, The Findings, The Conclusion. The chapter of General Information has been searched to emphasize the purpose, scope, method and problem. In the Achieved Studies part, the concepts of the study, artists and sample structures have been introduced. The concept of counter-monument, which consists of the basis of the study, has been analysed in the disciplines of architecture and art. In the Findings chapter, the works of the artists have been evaluated according to J.E. Young's counter-monument approaches. In the Conclusion section, the findings and analysis have been summarized and interpreted.
