In this study, the seed characteristics of Juniperus drupacea Labill. were investigated. The cones were collected from Kahramanmaraş, Mersin and Adana provenances. The cones and seeds morphological characteristics and seed germination traits were researched in the laboratory. To examine the germination behaviour of J. drupacea seeds at different temperatures, germination tests were applied at 8 °C, 11 °C, 16 °C, and 20 °C after 12 weeks prechilling treatments. The seeds prechilled 8 weeks and fresh non-prechilled seeds were soaked at 100 ppm and 500 ppm GA3 solutions at 24 hours. Chemical analyses were done to reveal the chemical composition of the seed. The populations in the region were also observed in terms of seedling development and natural regeneration. The average cone length, cone diameter, and cone weight were 22,49 mm, 20,86 mm 4,659 g, respectively. The average seed length, seed widdth, seed thickness, and seed weight were measured as 10,07 mm, 3,30 mm, 2,77 mm and 0,04 g, respectively. The average 1000-seed weight was 44,66 g. The highest germination percentage was obtained after warm and cold stratification in all prechilling treatments. Kahramanmaraş provenance demonstrated the highest germination rate (% 80,67). The highest germination percentage was obtained at 12 °C in temperature tests. The seeds prechilled 8 weeks and soaked 500 ppm GA3 also demonstrated high germination percentage (% 83,3). The results of crude oil analyses showed that average crude oil rate in the seed was % 51,97.
