It can be said that the aspirations of the Jewish for the Ottoman territory originated from a radical religious mysticism in a period when the Young Turk movement was not even heard of. The idea of establishing an independent Jewish state in Jerusalem, which many Jewish people dream of, became a political activity when Teodor Herzl, who was a Jew from Budapest, came into the presence of Abdul Hamid II to put forward territorial claims. Behind Herzl?s intentions lied the Jewinization of Palestine, which then was the under the rule of the Ottoman Empire, with the consent of and under the political rule of the Ottoman Empire. However, Herzl had to abandon all hope as long as Abdul Hamid had been at the helm of the Ottoman state. When the Young Turk ended the reign of Abdul Hamid II and decided to establish a new constitutional regime, the Jewish community and Masonic lodges were there to help them in every respect. Basing their organization on the Italian Resorta Masonic Lodge, the Young Turk attended the Masonic lodges in Thessaloniki where Abdul Hamid II had little room for manoeuvre and declared the Second Constitutional Era with the support coming from there. Particularly after the proclamation of the Second Constitutional Era, the Jewish were rewarded for their contributions, the Zionist ideology gaining currency in parallel with the increasing population of Jewish immigrants in the Ottoman territory. The Jewish Masons took office in the important civil services and guided the Community of Union and Progress in the social, political and economic areas. The Jewish Members of Parliament who were no more than 4 or 5 in the Ottoman parliament from 1908 to 1918 supported the policies of the Community of Union and Progress rather than serving as Members of Parliament for their own nation. However, despite being based on interests, the relations between the two sides were uneven. The Jewish then engaged in activities to spread Zionism in the Ottoman territory. Such activities included Jewish schools, gymnastics clubs and those of the Alliance. Pleased particularly with the medical support of the Jewish in the Turco-Italian War and the Balkan Wars, the Community of Union and Progress relaxed the requirements of Jewish settlements in Palestine. Keywords: Jewish, Community of Union and Progress, Second Constitutional Era.

Yahudilerin Osmanlı toprakları üzerindeki emellerinin daha Jöntürk hareketinin adı bile duyulmamışken köklü bir dini mistisizme dayanarak başladığı söylenebilir. Birçok Yahudinin gönlünde yatan, Kudüs'te bağımsız bir Yahudi Devleti'nin kurulması düşüncesi, Budapeşteli bir Yahudi olan Teodor Herzl'in II. Abdülhamid'e gelerek toprak talebiyle siyasî bir aktivite halini almıştır. Herzl'in planlarında; Osmanlı Devleti'nin egemenliği altında bulunan Filistin'in, Osmanlı'nın rızası ve siyasal egemenliği altında Yahudileşmesini gerçekleştirmek yer alıyordu. Teşkilatlanmalarını İtalyan Resorta Mason Locası'nı örnek alarak oluşturan Jöntürkler aynı zamanda Abdülhamid'in hareket sahasının kısıtlı olduğu Selanik'te Mason localarına katılarak buradan aldıkları destekle II. Meşrutiyet'i ilan etmişlerdir.
