In order for businesses to continue production, the total amount of liquid and liquid-like capital they have to hold is called operating capital. The fact that production, sales and collection stages are not realized at the same time reveals the need for working capital. Working capital is of great importance for the enterprises to operate at full capacity, to prevent disruption of their production, to expand their business volume, to meet their operating obligations, to increase credibility, to be prepared for unexpected situations, to carry out the operation in a profitable and efficient manner. Different from manufacturing industry, tourism enterprises require high fixed investments and working capital due to their seasonal characteristics, demand fluctuations, high labor turnover rate, the necessity to consume the products produced and their inability to be stocked. Due to the aforementioned characteristics, effective working capital management is important in tourism enterprises. A research has been carried out for tourism enterprises in order to determine the working capital requirements of the enterprises operating in the tourism sector and the costs specific to the service sector. In the research, a questionnaire consisting of 41 questions was prepared and 45 companies operating in the tourism sector were answered and it was determined that the sector generally prepared its financial plans and followed it up-to-date, followed a balanced and situational working capital strategy and that the working capital requirement was largely financed from foreign sources. On the other hand, the high level of foreign resource utilization of enterprises creates disadvantages due to the flexibility of demand, which is the fragile side of the sector, and the demand being affected by the political and economic conjuncture. The fact that the sector prefers internal financing methods, keeping the profits in the company and increasing the capital will make the companies better in terms of optimum balance sheet structure and cash flow in the future.
