The research is planned and performed on women that had breast reconstruction after mastectomy caused by breast cancer, to define surgical intervention?s effects on women?s sexual lives and whether there is a difference between women who had mastectomy and breast conserving surgery (BCS).The sample of this descriptive study is made up by totally 100 women that 34 of them had breast reconstruction after mastectomy, 33 of them had BCS and 33 of them had mastectomy in 2008-2012. These chosen 100 women had been called and informed about the study?s purpose, content and method. Then the Data Collection Forms which consists two subsections as Personal Characteristics Form part and Female Sexual Function Index-FSFI part are filled by the researcher. Student-t, ANOVA, Mann-Whitney U, Kruskal-Wallis, Pearson and Spearman Correlation tests are used for analysis of the parametric and nonparametric data. Also Multivariate Logistic Regression Analysis is used to define independent factors that cause woman sexual functionality diseases. After the FSFI measurements it has been defined that there is an inverse proportion between the average FSFI score and the women?s and her partner?s age; also it has been found that 63,2% (n=24) of women that had mastectomy, 26,3% (n=10) of women that had breast reconstruction after mastectomy and 10,5% (n=4) of women that had BCS had sexual functionality diseases. In addition, it is defined that there is a meaningful difference between surgery types? effects on passion, orgasm, satisfaction, ache, lowest slickness value and total average scores on behalf of BCS and breast reconstruction after mastectomy. This FSFI total average score based study shows that among the 3 factors, women?s age, their partner?s age and type of surgery, that affects women?s sexual lives, women?s age (OR: 7,237), breast reconstruction (OR: 4,277) and mastectomy (OR: 30,316) affect FSFI total average score negatively and cause women?s sexual dysfunctionality.According to these results, after mastectomy resulting with loss of breast, which is directly related with sexual life, women, who had lost their breasts, should be informed about healthy life behaviors that have direct impact on sexual lives and breast reconstructions that have positive effect on sexual life to make feel them physically and psychologically better.
