In this study, the transformation of social media privacy is discussed and answers to the questions of `how privacy is transformed` , `how private life is presented in social media` and `how big data affects privacy` are sought. Within this scope, systematic review technique was used as a qualitative research method. In this study, the term privacy was defined and the experience of privacy from the 16th century to the present was examined by comparing Western and Ottoman societies. It is seen that privacy was experienced in accordance with financial power in both societies, it was not an issue as the rights until the 19th century, and in Turkey, it was transformed by the state's itself on the purpose of Westernization. The issue of how private life is presented on social media has been examined on the basis of celebrity culture, exposition, peeking, disclosure and transparency. In addition to the aforementioned factors, how big data affects privacy is discussed and policies developed by governments and companies to protect personal data are reviewed. In this study, it is concluded that privacy is a phenomenon of every period, and in each of these periods it has been experienced differently, and religion and culture are important factors in this experience. According to the results of the study, nowadays there is uncertainty about what private space and public space refers to because of social media and as a result of this, private life becomes an object of presentation. After all, big data makes privacy impossible. Keywords: privacy, social media, big data.
