Two main factors of economic activities are production and consumption. The alterations in production and consumption mutually affect each other. Indeed, the alteration in consumption affect production and the alteration in consumption are affected by consumer expenditures. Increase in consumption causes an increase in production, a decrease in consumption causes a decrease in production. The alteration in consumption depends on many factors, one of these is consumer confidence. In the present study, the relationship between consumer confidence and consumer expenditures is investigated.Consumer confidence is measured by the collaboration of Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (CBRT) and Turkey Statistical Institute (TurkStat). The results are published as the consumer confidence ındex. Consumer expenditures are measured as 12 different types of expenses by Turkey Statistical Institute. The rate of each type of expense in total expenditure is calculated. The consumer confidence index and the rate of each type of consumption expenditure in total consumption expenditures between 2004-2016 are used to perform analyses. Correlation and regression are used to analyse the relationship. As a result of the analyses; the consumer confidence index and the ratio of food and soft drinks , clothing and footwear, health and telecommunication expenditures in total consumption expenditures are found positively correlated; however, the consumer confidence index is found to have a statistically significant nagative correlation with the ratio of transportation, restaurant and hotel expenditures in total consumption expenditures. It is concluded that the consumer confidence index affects the alteration in the ratios of food and soft drinks expenditures in total consumption expenditures by 42.3%, clothing and footwear expenditure in total consumption expenditures by 72.9%, health expenditure in total consumption expenditures by 36.1%, telecommunication expenditure in total consumption expenditures by 26.2%, restaurant and hotel expenditures in total consumption expenditures by 27.5%, transportation expenditure in total consumption expenditures by 36.5%.

Gıda ve alkolsüz içecekler harcamalarının toplam tüketim harcamaları içindeki oranındaki değişimin %42,3 oranında, giyim ve ayakkabı harcamalarının toplam tüketim harcamaları içindeki oranındaki değişimin %72,9 oranında, sağlık harcamalarının toplam tüketim harcamaları içindeki oranındaki değişimin %36,1 oranında, haberleşme harcamalarının toplam tüketim harcamaları içindeki oranındaki değişimin %26,2 oranında, lokanta ve oteller harcamalarının toplam tüketim harcamaları içindeki oranındaki değişimin %27,5 oranında, ulaştırma harcamalarının toplam tüketim harcamaları içindeki oranındaki değişimin %36,5 oranında Tüketici Güven Endeksinden etkilendiği sonucuna ulaşılmıştır.
