This study analyzes the novel `Tutunamayanlar` by Oğuz Atay in terms of intertextual relations. 3 (three) basic intertextual relations, namely co-collocation, derivative and paratextuality relations, have been determined in the aforesaid novel. Such co-collocation relations as citation, reference and allusion are intensely and dominantly used in the overall novel. Mostly used derivative relations in the novel are parody, mimic and imitation. Another intertextual relation determined in the aforesaid novel is paratextuality. Besides these, there are also other intertextual relations such as montage and collage. In the framework of all these intertextual relations, `Tutunamayanlar` has the characteristics of an integrated writing. The fact that the narrator subjects of `Tutunamayanlar` quote from all kinds of texts and commemorate the characters, thinkers and writers, and the things told evoke the events in other texts and motifs unifies this novel with the texts that it is in relation with.Allusion and parody can be shown as the basic intertextual forms of fiction used in this novel. This novel includes so many parodies of history books, encyclopedic articles, historical and ideological events. The reason why these fields are heavily used as an object of derision (parody) in the novel is to deconstruct them.Another important and dominant form of text formation used in this novel isreference and allusion. Allusion is a process of establishing a more implicit and ambiguous link (comparing to reference), which can be revealed by the effort and perception of the reader, between a word, sentence or situation and another word, sentence, situation, writer, work, hero and so on.Tutunamayanlar is a novel that progresses by holding onto the intertextual relations that it is in relation with due to its intense intertextuality and deconstructs the traditional perceptions and the narrative traditions related to the aesthetics of generation.Key Words:Oğuz Atay, Tutunamayanlar, Intertextual Relations, Reference, Allusion, ParodyAdvisor:Prof. Dr. Cemal SAKALLI, Mersin University, Department of Comparative Literature, Mersin.
