Hadith scholars agree that the narrators, those who determine the soundness/authenticity of narrations, should have certain characteristics about probity and powers of memory. Of these characteristics, virtue (al-Murû'a), being one of the elements of probity, is defined as `one's attainment to moral perfection`. Matters considered to damage virtue occasionally appear to be intertwined with fisk al-râwî. In this context, it has been determined that personal opinions are effective in critics made and therefore a behavior referred to as an element of criticism by one critic is not considered to be a weakness by others. As far as it can be ascertained, mentioning of this term in the sections of hadith method sources that are referred to the narrators's characteristics begins with Khatib al-Baghdadi. Besides, when the words conveyed from the Hadith scholars and their evaluations on jarh and ta'dil are examined, it is understood that virtue was also necessary for the narrators before Khatib. In this study, it is aimed to determine the effects of issues considered as virtue (al-Murû'a) weakness from the perspective of muhaddiths, to the acceptance of narration of the narrator. Firstly, based on duafa literature, narrators who have been indicated with virtue weakness are determined, then views of the critics about them are specified. In order to make clear the effect of the current assessments on the acceptance of their narrations, the reports of these narrators, which have been transferred to Hadith sources, especially to The Six Books, are also mentioned. Thus, being a hadith method term, the defnition of virtue and the effects of weakness of virtue to jarh and ta'dil are determined.
