There are a number of alternative production control approaches in literature. Most ofthem are adequate in theory but they are not applicable for a real life manufacturing environment.Uncertain demand and unbalanced production times are two important problemsin a manufacturing environment. These two parameters affects the work-in-process andfinished goods inventory level of the manufacturing system which leads to an increasein the total cost of manufacturing system. Therefore we utilized from a kanban operatedJust-in-Time system and tried to adapt this concept into real life problems. We called ourproposed system as an adaptive kanban control system. Our approach to developing anadaptive kanban system is different from the available techniques in the literature suchthat we explicitly incorporate the concept of update frequency. The number of kanbancards are updated (increased / decreased) according to the inventory status of the system. The new adaptive kanban control system is examined in two types. One of them includesa constant production time parameter. At the other one includes the production timeparameter varies according to the work-in-process inventory status of the system. Oursystems are modeled by continuous-time Markov chain and solved obviously. We specifyour numerical results explicitly. Eventually, it is shown that our adaptive kanban systemis superior to the traditional static kanban system under a prescribed set of conditions.

Yeni uyarlanabilir kanban kontrol sistemiiki sekilde incelenmistir. Ilkinde sistemin birim zamandaki uretim suresi parametresisabittir. Ikincisinde ise birim zamandaki uretim suresi parametresi sistemde bulunanyarı mamul envanter seviyesine gore degismektedir. Sistemimiz Markov zinciri ilemodellenmis ve cozulmustur. Sayısal sonuclarımız acık bir sekilde gosterilmistir. Sonolarak uyarlanabilir kanban sistemi yaklasımımızın belirli sartlar altında geleneksel kanbansistemleri yaklasımına ustun oldugu acıkca gosterilmistir.
