The main purpose of this thesis is to determine the level of using information technologies amoung science teachers working at Middle Schools while teaching topics of Physics and the reasons for not using them.We conducted a case study utilizing the techniques including quantitative and qualitative data collection methods by means of survey, interviews and observations. The scope of this research covers the academic years of 2014-2015 and focuses on the science and technology teachers working in the Middle schools of Van Province. The sample used for this study includes 138 science and technology teachers from various Middle schools in Van Province . The quantitative data collected was analysed by using the `IBM Spss Statistics 22.0` programme. Through the analysis of this software package, we used independent t-test samples, frequency, percentage and average calculations. The qualitative research data was analysed through the descriptive qualitative analysis.The study showed that , compared to male teachers , the female teachers have more difficulty in managing technology to use in their classes and can not teach the topics in an efficient way thus needing more help to use digital materials.We could not find any meaningful difference between science teachers having participated our survey in terms of using information technology in education and training depending on their seniority because there were only a few teachers having 10 years experience. Moreover, the teachers stated that support of school administration was not enough to use the technology, the use of technology was very time consuming, Ministry of Education was not incentive enough to make them use of technology, classrooms are not appropriate to use technology and they did not get adequate in-service training seminars as well as teachers's not having sufficient sense of responsibility to use technology.Science teachers should be provided information on the use of technology to develop knowledge and skills in-service training by the related institutions. The physical conditions of schools in science courses should be improved in order to use information technology sufficiently. Especially, the teachers are to be enabled to use technology in their classes and science laboratories should be adapted to the necessary technical equipment.Key WordsScience, physics topics, information technologies, teacher.

Bu araştırmanın temel amacı ortaokullarda görev yapan fen bilimleri öğretmenlerinin derslerindeki fizik konularında bilgi teknolojilerini kullanma düzeyleri ve kullanmama nedenlerini tespit etmektir. Araştırmanın yürütülmesinde özel durum çalışması (örnek olay) yöntemi kullanılmıştır. Araştırmada nicel ve nitel veri toplama araçlarından olan anket, yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme ve yapılandırılmış gözlem formları birlikte kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın evrenini 2014-2015 eğitim-öğretim yılında Van ilindeki ortaokullarda görev yapan fen bilimleri öğretmenleri oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmanın örneklemini ise Van ilindeki ortaokullarda görev yapan 138 fen bilimleri öğretmeni oluşturmaktadır. Araştırmanın amacı doğrultusunda toplanan nicel veriler `IBM Spss Statistics 22.0` paket programı kullanılarak analiz edilmiştir. Araştırma verilerinin analizinde; Bağımsız Örneklemler T-Testi, frekans, yüzde ve ortalama hesaplamaları kullanılmıştır. Araştırmanın nitel verileri ise betimsel analiz kullanılarak çözümlenmiştir.Araştırmanın sonucunda erkek öğretmenlere kıyasla kadın öğretmenlerin derste teknolojiyi kullanınca sınıfı yönetmede zorlandıkları, konuları düzenli bir şekilde öğretemedikleri ve derste dijital materyalleri kullanmaları için daha çok yardıma ihtiyaç duydukları tespit edilmiştir. Fen bilimleri öğretmenlerinin eğitim ve öğretimde bilgi teknolojileri kullanımının mesleki kıdemlerine göre farklılaşması ankete katılan, 10 yıldan daha kıdemli öğretmen sayısının çok az olması nedeniyle istatistiksel olarak tespit edilememiştir. Ayrıca fen bilimleri öğretmenleri okul idaresinin teknolojiyi kullanmak için yeterince destek olmadığını, teknoloji kullanımının çok zaman aldığını, MEB'in teknoloji kullanımı için yeterli özendirmeyi yapmadığını, sınıfların teknoloji kullanımına uygun olmadığını, hizmet içi eğitim seminerlerini yeterli bulmadıklarını ve teknoloji kullanımında yeterli sorumluluk bilinci gelişmediğini belirtmişlerdir.Fen bilimleri öğretmenlerine bilgi teknolojileri kullanımı konusunda bilgi ve becerilerini geliştirmeye yönelik kurum tarafından hizmet-içi eğitim olanağı sağlanabilir. Fen bilimleri derslerinde bilgi teknolojilerinin yeterli düzeyde kullanılabilmesi için okulların fiziki şartları iyileştirebilir.
