The Geology and petroleum potantiel of the Akseki-Aydinkent (Antalya) area has been determined by field and laboratory studies. Previous studies based on the petroleum geology of the area are dependent on surficial geology. This thesis research is a synthesis of the surficial geological studies and organic geochemical analyses. First, the geological map of the area in a 1/25000 scale was prepared by also using the previous geological maps. Lithostratigraphic units in the area were examined in a chronological order. Under the lights of these examinations, stratigraphic, petrographic, tectonic, and other geologic features of the units have been determined. Tectonic studies show that the area has undergone a compression in NE-SW direction. Allocthonous and paraallocthonous units are exposed in the area. Units exposed in the area have been examined as 3 different tectonic slice within the Geyikdağı Group,Of these, the unit in the north is the Akseki Slice, the one in the center is the Akdağ-Yelekdağ Slice, and finally the one in the south is called the Pimos -Tepedağ Tectonic Slice. The formations in the Akseki Tectonic Slice from older the younger are : Üzümdere, Pisarçukuru, Hendos, Akkuyu, Akseki, Seyrandağı, Gümüşdamla formations, The formations in the Akdağ-Yelekdağ Tectonic Slice arerAkdağ, Aydmkent, The formations in the Pirnos-Tepedağ Tectonic Slice are Üzümdere, pisarçukuru, Hendos, Dumanlı formations. Deposition of units exposed in the area is continous. However, there is a bouxite layer between Akseki and Seyrandağı formations within the Akseki Tectonic Slice indicating terrestrial conditions. Allocthon units exposed in the area are composed of rocks of Paleozoic age. Paleogeographic evolution of the studied area is explained. Source, reservoir and cap rock properties of the units have been determined by laboratory analyses. Based on these analyses, it is thought that Akkuyu formation is possibly a source rock and it may contain gas. Üzümdere formation is not suitable to be a source rock. Sandstone and limestone levels of Üzümdere formation and dolomite levels and some parts of limestone levels of Akseki formation are suitable to be a reservoir rock. Hendos formation has weak or locally medium reservoir rock properties. Üzümdere anticline is a structure which is suitable for oil trapping.
