This study was aimed to determine the carbon footprint of the boats operating in tourism sector by the example of Fethiye. At this study, firstly, target boats were determined and quantitative changes between 2011 and 2014 of these boats were found. Later, the boats were categorized according to their types and then the numbers, the power of the main and auxiliary engines, voyage zones and numbers of these boats were found for the year 2014. The fuel consumptions of the boats for each group were calculated by using voyage and route based analyzes and eventually total consumptions of the boats were found. The fuel consumption data was processed with the emission factor and conversion rate obtained from the literature and the amount of greenhouse gas caused by the boats was found as the total CO2 equivalent and the carbon footprint of the boats was determined. As a result of this study, it was calculated totally 5919.6 tons / year CO2 equivalent carbon footprint of 276 boats operating in the tourism sector in Fethiye in 2014. Although this sum is higher more than calculated as 3217 tons / year CO2 equivalent Carbon Footprint of a port reception facility ship generated wastes by Toröz (2015), but is much more smaller than calculated as 3,6 mt/year CO2 equivalent Carbon Footprint of fishing vessels in India in 2010 by Vivekanandan et al (2013). It was determined that the number of vessels in the study increased by 9.2% between 2011 and 2014, similar to this increasing, fuel consumption and Carbon Footprint of boats were increased, too. It is possible to minimize the Carbon Footprint of these boats by the development of boat / ship designs, the integration of machine technology innovations into the boats, taking some operational precautions and increasing awareness of the people using these services.
