Although Turkey is homeland and the germplasm center of viticulture culture, it has lower yield and quality than its potential because of number of reasons. Inadequate grapevine seedlings for planting new vineyards and the problems in the production of some hard rooting rootstocks are some of these reasons. Thus, because of inadequate grapevine seedlings, other rootstocks are planted in the soil at which these rootstocks should be used. In this study, 41 B, Ramsey, Ruggeri 140 and Paulsen 1103 American rootstocks varieties were used and direct electric currents of 30, 60 and 90 volts were applied to that rootstocks for 3, 6, 9 and 12 hours. After electric treatments, the cuttings were planted in greenhouse at 25°C and 85% relative humidity and 6 weeks after, they were analyzed with regard to criteria such as root distribution, the number of roots, root length, shoot length, fresh and dry root weight. Also, after the electric treatments, these rootstocks were grafted with the scions of Sultani Çekirdeksiz grape variety and the callus formations of those rootstocks at the grafting point were determined. Rootstocks give varying reactions to different electric voltages and durations have been identified. Generally, 30 V-6 hour application for 41 B rootstock, 30 V-9 hour application for Ramsey rootstock, 30 V applications for Paulsen 1103 rootstock and 60 V& 90 V applications for Ruggeri 140 rootstock have been came into prominence. As a result of this study, the effects of electric treatment on grapevine seedlings criteria, especially rooting, were investigated and the electrical method in this study could be an alternative in the production of grapevine seedlings. Keywords: Direct electric current, american rootstock, ramsey, rooting.
