Özet

During the period after the Tanzimat Era, some important changes have been made ininstitutions of the Ottoman State. These developments seen in the bureaucracy have also beenreflected to recording of bureaucratic documents. In this period, Ayniyat registers became oneof important sources that clarify the relations between the central government and provinces. These registers include copies of correspondence records sent from the prime ministry toministries or to some governmental offices and the provinces. In these correspondences, records related to people?s demands and complaints keep an important place. Therefore, anexamination of the records in these registers will bring out into the open what kind of changesor developments took place in especially economic and social areas after the Tanzimat Era.I have searched totally 9 Ayniyat registers numbered from 928 to 936, which areconcerning with the province of Trabzon. These searched 9 registers include the periodbetween 1866 and 1878 (AH. 1283 ? 1295). We have based on the register with the number of928 in our thesis because it also included replies of correspondence records. In addition, having selected some important documents from other registers numbered from 929 to 936,we have added them to our study. While our study is specifically dealing with the social and economic structures ofTrabzon and its surrounding areas in the Tanzimat period, we also suppose that it wouldcontribute to understand the social and economic structures of the Ottoman State during thatperiod.
