Özet

Today, the relationship between adolescents and parents is a highly debatable issue. Although it is possible to discuss this issue from many aspects, the common point of these aspects is the healthiness of the relationships between adolescents and parents. This point is discussed in the context of resource theory and social control theory in this work. The exchange of love and status resources is discussed in the context of the relationship between adolescents and parents as per the resource theory that is based on the notion that the individuals fulfill their needs by the exchange of resources with other people. Social control theory, which is used as complementary to the resource theory, helps us to understand the relationship of the individual with the social groups. Attachment to parents element of the social control theory, which consists of four elements, is used.As the field study, a survey has been applied to 366 adolescents, who are chosen as per the accidental sampling condition, in their mid or late adolescence between 15 and 18 years studying in various high schools in the province of Ankara.Remarkable differences in the behavior of the parents is observed as they try to understand the problems of the adolescent is observed in terms of the conflict potential in the love resource exchanges of the adolescents, and while talking the problems with the opposite sex or asking questions about sex in the relationship between adolescents and parents. It is observed that gender is distinguishably ranked first, and then age is ranked second as the issues in the relationship between adolescents and parents.
