The time period when the Ottoman Empire collapsed and the Republic of Turkey founded, is very important for Turkish history. During this period, there was a great freedom war in Anatolia during the period of National Struggle. Although the topics of this period are included in all levels of the Turkish education system, these issues are included more widely in the 8th grade Revolution History and Kemalism lesson. In contrast, certain problems are seen in the education of Revolution History in Turkey. The first one of the problems is using textbook and lecturing method frequently in the instruction process. In this study, in the course of 8th grade T.C. Revolution History and Kemalism course, the effects of the use of stories were investigated on the students' achievement and attitude in the instruction of the National Struggle Period. The studying group contains 157 student, which eight grade student. The research was carried out with pre-test and post-test, experimental design with control group. To collect data, attitude scale and academic achievement scale were used. The collected data were analysed by using t tests, single factor one-way variance analysis for repeated measurements, (ANOVA), Pearson correlation and Pearson chi-square tests. In addition, content analysis was done on the data about student views. As a result of the research, it has been observed that the use of stories in teaching the subject of National Struggle Period has a positive effect on the success of the students and their attitude towards the course. In addition, it was understood that the students found the use of stories as useful, instructive and enjoyable. As a result of the analyses, it was observed that, the students formed metaphors related to national struggle period such as `hero`, `veteran`, `altruistic`, `brave it,` `valiant`, `war`, `education`, `congress`, `flag`, and `homeland`.Keywords: History Subjects, History of Revolution, National Struggle Period, Story.

Osmanlı Devleti'nin yıkılıp Türkiye Cumhuriyeti'nin kurulduğu zaman dilimi Türk tarihi için çok önemlidir. Bu zaman dilimi içindeki Millî Mücadele Dönemi'nde Anadolu'da büyük bir özgürlük savaşı verilmiştir. Türk eğitim sisteminin tüm kademelerinde bu döneme ait konulara yer verilmekle birlikte, 8. sınıf T.C. İnkılap Tarihi ve Atatürkçülük dersinde bu konular daha geniş olarak yer almaktadır. Buna karşılık Türkiye'de İnkılap Tarihi öğretiminde sorunlar yaşanmaktadır. Sorunların başında; öğretim sürecinde çoğunlukla ders kitabının ve düz anlatım yönteminin kullanılması gelmektedir. Bu çalışmada 8. sınıf T.C. İnkılap Tarihi ve Atatürkçülük dersinde Millî Mücadele Dönemi'nin öğretiminde öykülerin kullanılmasının öğrencilerin ders başarısına ve derse karşı tutumuna etkisi incelenmiştir. Araştırmanın çalışma gurubunu 8. sınıfa devam eden 157 öğrenci oluşturmuştur. Araştırma ön test-son test, kontrol gruplu deneysel desen ile yürütülmüştür. Araştırmada veri toplamak amacıyla tutum ölçeği ve akademik başarı ölçeği kullanılmıştır. Toplanan veriler, `t testi`, `yinelenen ölçümler için tek faktörlü varyans analizi, (ANOVA)`, Pearson korelasyon ve Pearson ki-kare testleri kullanılarak analiz edilmiştir. Bunun yanı sıra öğrenci görüşlerine ilişkin veriler üzerinde içerik çözümlemesi yapılmıştır. Araştırma sonucunda, Millî Mücadele Dönemi konusunun öğretilmesinde öykülerin kullanımının, öğrencilerin ders başarısını ve derse karşı tutumunu olumlu yönde etkilediği görülmüştür. Ayrıca öğrencilerin öykü kullanımını faydalı, öğretici ve zevkli bulduğu anlaşılmıştır. Bunun yanı sıra analizler sonucunda öğrencilerin milli mücadele dönemine ilişkin `kahraman`, `gazi`, `fedakâr`, `cesur`, `yiğit`, `savaş`, `eğitim`, `kongre`, `bayrak`, `vatan` metaforlarını oluşturdukları gözlenmiştir.Anahtar Kelimeler: Tarih Konuları, İnkılap Tarihi, Millî Mücadele Dönemi, Öykü.
