The aim of this thesis is introduce as many as possible of Late Rome-Early Byzantine periods mosaics pavement in North Cyprus. This study is based on a catalogue of five Early Christian basilicas in the North Cyprus. This catalogue is occured by on the north west of Cyprus, Soli Basilica, on the east, ancient city of Salamis; Camponepetra and Epiphianus Basilicas and in the Carpas Peninsula, Ayios Trias and Ayios Philon Basilicas. As mentioned above basilicas, the mosaic under survey date from the period betweeen the 4th and 7th century A.D.. On the pavement of basilica were used opus sectile and opus tessellation mosaics techniques. Soli mosaics which the excavator divides in to three groups of different periods from the first phase, the second half of the 4th., second phase 5th. and third and the last phase late 5th and 6th century. 4th and 5th. century pavement were used opus tesselatum tecnique, well example mosaic of animals figures such swan, duck, fish and ect. İn the 6.th century mosaics was opus sectile which used to covered to early phase mosaics pavement. The mosaic floors at Ayios Trias are more elobrate than these of the late 4th. century basilicas. They include geometrical patern like four pointed star, plants patern like pomegranate and the other unique patern like sandals. Many of the patern are characteristic of Antioch and Tunis pavement dated or datable within the 5th. Century. Epiphianus, Camponepetra and Ayios Philon Basilicas floors were covered up qualified example of opus sectile. İn Camponepetra, investigator were find the first imported Procennesian marble floors in Cyprus. Large slabs of marble were especially appreciated, as in one of the luxurious floors of the baths of the Basilica of Camponepetra. İn other sumptuous pavement we find large shield pattern taking the most important part of the floor, as Ayios Philon. Both of Camponepetra and Ayios Philon pavement is seen in its full glory in what must be one of the best example of opus sectile on the island and Eastern Mediterranean as a whole. This bring us to conclusion, Cyprus was one of the main center of mosaic production, especially during the Roman and the Early Christian periods. Becouse of its small size, however and above all becouse of their own distinct character, always reflect the major artist currents emaneting from the surrounding areas. These after all, included Asia Minor with Cilica, on the north, Egypt and the other North Africa coast and the south, island Greece on the west and last but not least, the Syro-Palestinan coast with such centres as Antioch and Apamea.
