ABSTRACTEFFECT OF LASER BIOSTIMULATION ON WOUND HEALING OF PERİODONTAL TİSSUESAim: In our study, it was aimed to evaluate the efficiency of laser biostimulation on early stage of periodontal wound healing after conventional flap (CF) surgery of severe chronic periodontitis patients. Material and Method: One each symmetrical tooth region with horizontal bone defects in the anterior lower jaws of fifteen chronic periodontitis male patients were selected for comprising study groups (laser and control). Biostimulation (Neodymium-doped: yttrium, aluminium and garnet (Nd:YAG) laser, wavelength of 1064 nm., energy density of 4 j/cm2) was performed in the laser group at days 3rd, 5th,7th and 14th after CF surgery, while the control group received placebo. Plaque index (PI), gingival index (GI), gingival crevicular fluid volume (GCFV) and transforming growth factor-ß (TGF-ß)1 data were determined as study parameters in the intra- and intergroup assessments. Results: Statistically significiant increase was found in the before laser group (p<0.05) between days 7th and 14th in terms of TGF-ß1 concentration as statistically significiant decrease was found in the before placebo group (p<0.05). At day 14th, statistically significiant difference was observed between before laser and before placebo groups in favor of laser group (p<0.05). At days 7th and 14th, no significiant difference were found in relation to TGF-ß1 concentrations between before laser and after laser groups (p>0.05) and between before placebo and after placebo groups (p>0.05). No significant change or difference were observed in relation to both intra (p>0.05) and inter (p>0.05) group assesments of clinical parameters. Conclusion: In our study it was concluded that Nd:YAG laser biostimulation may have an effect on TGF-ß1 expression in early stage of periodontal wound healing after CF surgery. ÖZETLAZERLE BİYOSTİMÜLASYONUN PERİODONTAL DOKULARDA YARA İYİLEŞMESİ ÜZERİNE ETKİSİAmaç: Çalışmamızda, lazer biyostimülasyonunun şiddetli kronik periodontitisli hastalarda konvansiyonel flap (KF) cerrahisi sonrası erken dönem periodontal yara iyileşmesi üzerine etkisinin değerlendirilmesi amaçlandı. Materyal ve Metot: Alt çene anterior bölgelerinde horizontal kemik defekti bulunan 15 kronik periodontitisli erkek hastada simetrik 1'er diş bölgesi çalışma gruplarını (lazer ve kontrol) oluşturmak üzere seçildi. KF cerrahisini takiben 3., 5., 7. ve 14. günlerde lazer grubuna biyostimülasyon (Neodymium-doped: yttrium, aluminium and garnet (Nd:YAG) lazer, 1064 nm. dalga boyu, 4 j/cm2 enerji yoğunluğunda) uygulanırken, kontrol grubuna plasebo uygulandı.
