The aim of this research entitled `Collocational Expressions in Arabic Press` is to raise awareness about collocational structures and contribute to the formation of an essential framework for the fields including language learning and teaching with the examples collected from media texts. To this end, first linguistic explanations regarding the press language are given in the study. Then, different approaches to collocations are analyzed and the importance of collocations is highlighted. Types of collocations are analyzed with distinctive examples and these are supplemented with essential explanations. Furthermore, in order to support the information about collocations, collocations are shown in news texts that are selected from the text corpora of politics, economy, health and sport. Building upon these corpora, collocation lists are created, and example translation of news texts are given. Hence, it is aimed that collocations can be seen within the context and knowledge about collocations can be increased. Methods for translating the collocations in press texts are demonstrated in practice. Data obtained were analyzed in terms of grammatical structures and translation techniques. According to the result of this study, it is seen that collocations are frequently used in a language and especially in press language. Furthermore, it is found out that significant problems may arise in learning or teaching a language or in understanding or reasoning processes if there is not enough awareness about these phrases. In addition, it is important to highlight the fact that a translation product will be meaningless and deficient if the equivalents of these collocations are not taken into consideration during translation process which is known as an inter-lingual activity.
