In this study an agriculture model suggested to conduct by science teachers within context of a selective course at grades 6-8, guide teaching material which are in a harmony with constructivist approach, were developed and its effectiveness was examined. To evaluate the developed materials effectiveness quasi-experimental research with pre and post-test control group was employed. The developed guide materials were pilot studied with 18 students who enrolled to 6th grade. Real study for control one was carried out with 32 experimental group and 22 control group students. The data of the present study were collected with the Agriculture Culture Module Conceptual Understanding Test, Agriculture Culture Module Multiple Choice Achievement Test, teacher and student interviews and observations. The obtained quantitative data were analyzed using dependent t-test, independent t-test and ANCOVA. Also interviews from qualitative data were also analyzed by means of Nvivo program. As a consequence of the study, it can be found out that the developed guide materials leaded to an increase %21 in the students? conceptual understanding. Also it can be deducted that the guide teaching materials based on constructivist approach did not change the student achievement of the multiple-choice questions. However the classroom observations and interviews showed that the students not only assimilated the teaching intervention, but also increased their interest and motivation towards the course. In light of the results, some suggestions are made to the researchers and educators to undertake further future studies.
