In today's world, innovation,with the role that it plays, has become an important advantage for competition. With the increasingly felt globalization phenomenon, businesses have to be faced with more challenging competitive environment. It is suggested that in such an environment which is dominated by rapid and challenging changes, innovation is the precondition for the businesses to be able to achieve competetive advantage,or at least keep their current position. Enterprises' competetiveness, adaptibility to change and the ability to direct the change depend on their ability to act in accordance with consumer demands and needs.Being able to fulfil the consumer needs more effectively, the ability to take advantage of market opportunities and capability to come to the forefront in competition could now be possible with innovation. Developing the innovational capabilities that allow businesses to make difference is one of the most important factors in enhancing profitability and growth. This study aims to examine the impact and contribution of innovation in businesses to the competetiveness and attempt to provide advice and guide the businesses which fail to achieve competetiveness. In this study, concepts of innovation and competition and the relationship between these concepts is examined in detail and also a survey on businesses which operate in textile is carried out. In the light of the data obtained from the survey, particular results are achieved and in accordance with the results impact of the competetiveness on innovation is being revealed. In addition, through an interview with a firm applying innovation, how the innovations that the firm has achieved in both the products and production processes contributed to the firm is investigated; put in other words, the firm's position before and after the innovation is dealth with.

Günümüzde inovasyon üstlendiği rol itibariyle önemli bir rekabet avantajı haline dönüşmüş bulunmaktadır. Küreselleşme olgusunun daha çok hissedilmesiyle birlikte, işletmeler için daha da zorlayıcı rekabet ortamının oluştuğu söylenebilir. Böyle zorlu, hızlı değişimin egemen olduğu bir ortamda ise; işletmelerin rekabet üstünlüğü elde edebilmelerini, hiç değilse bulundukları konumu koruyabilmelerini sağlama ön koşulunun yenilenme olduğu ileri sürülebilinmektedir. İşletmelerin rekabet edebilirlikleri, değişime ayak uydurabilme ve değişimi yönlendirebilmeleri tüketici istek ve ihtiyaçları doğrultusunda hareket edebilmelerine bağlı olmaktadır. Tüketici gereksinimlerinin daha etkin karşılanabilmesi, pazar fırsatlarının değerlendirilmesi ve rekabette ön plana geçebilme ise inovasyon ile mümkündür. Farklı değer yaratılmasına olanak sağlayan inovasyonel yeteneklerin geliştirilmesi, kârlılık ve büyümenin arttırılmasındaki en önemli etkenlerden biri olmaktadır. Bu çalışmanın amacı; işletmelerde uygulanan inovasyonların işletmelerin rekabet gücüne etki ve katkılarını incelemek, rekabet üstünlüğü yaratamayan işletmelere ise öneriler sunarak yön gösterici olmaya çalışmaktır. Çalışmada; inovasyon ve rekabet kavramı, arasındaki ilişki ayrıntılı bir şekilde incelenmekte ve tekstil sektöründe faaliyet gösteren işletmelere yönelik bir anket uygulanmaktadır. Anket sonucu elde edilen veriler ışığında ise belirli sonuçlara ulaşılmakta, bu sonuçlar doğrultusunda da rekabet gücünün inovasyon üzerindeki etkisi verilerle gözler önüne serilmektedir. Ayrıca inovasyon uygulayan bir firma ile görüşme yapılarak firmanın gerek ürün gerekse üretim süreçlerinde yaptığı yeniliklerin firmaya neler kattığı araştırılmakta, diğer bir ifadeyle firmanın inovasyon öncesi ve inovasyon sonrası durumları ele alınmaktadır.
