ABSTRACTThe proportional relations of the regions in the human body have taken theinterest of scientists. In this context, the studies comprising objective face and noseanalysis using the linear and angular measurements of the nose are topics still taking theinterest of researchers. Our study was conducted on a total of 115 (59 female and 56 male) healthystudents of Yaşar Doğu Physical Education and Sports High School aging 18-30 (mean21.22) years old, whom were selected randomly. Some of the general anthropometricalmeasurement of the head and face and the anthropometric reference points related to thenose that are described in the literature were measured.Anthropometric measurements of the head, face and nose were done dependingon the reference points described in the literature while the head was in Frankfurt plane. The measurements were done by the same rates and repeated three times and theobtained data recorded. This data were analyzed using Statistical Package for the SocialSciences (V.18) software and comparisons were done to reveal the differences betweenthe male?s and female?s data of the mean of nasal measurements.According to the results, the average length and width of the nose were47.80±4.67 mm and 31.59±2.51 mm for females, and 52.95±5.40 mm and 35.24±2.70mm for males, respectively. The average of nasofrontal angle was 133.16°±8.88 forfemales and 123.85°±13.23 for males. There were statistical differences between themales? and females? data related to the nasal length, width and nasofrontal angle(p <0.05).In the light of obtained data we aimed to produce standard values for 18-30years of age male and female subjects, and the obtained data could be used for thefurther studies. The obtained anthropometrical data may be helpful to the surgeonrelated the patients with similar ages in the present study during the management of thenasal traumas in case of nasal damages. Keywords: Anthropometry, nose, female, male.
