Changes and innovations in education have become inevitable as a result of the fast developments in technology. The traditional education system has started to give its place to modern classroom environments where computer assisted teaching and learning takes place. Computers have become indispensible materials for all of the lessons. With the increase of the availability of interactive devices, easily attainable, comprehensible materials which could enhance learning have started to be designed for learners, teachers, and other users. In this research, the effects of teaching the ?Flip-Flops? module in the Digital Electronics course for 11th graders to those students have been studied and analyzed both in terms of traditional way of teaching and in terms of computer assisted learning. The views of the students concerning computer assisted learning have been analyzed, too.An instructional material was developed for the computer assisted teaching model. The study was conducted using the instructional material with the participants to the studywho were the 11th grade students in the Visual and Audio Systems branch of the Electric and Electronic Technologies Department in Şişli Vocational High School in the second term of 2009-2010 educational year. The study consists of two phases.First of all, two study groups of 30 students of equal level were formed. One group was taught the subject in a traditional way while the latter was taught using the prepared instructional material. During the study, pre-test and final-test method was applied. Achievement tests were used to collect the data. The questions of the achievement test given to the test and control groups (the pre-test and final test) were obtained from the Strengthening the Vocational Education and Training System in Turkey (SVET) project, and were tested on the entire 11th grade students. The test and control groups were tested in terms of equity of knowledge and achievement with the pre-test and the results were collected through the Paired Samples t-test.In the second phase, a questionnaire was applied with the control group students in the Visual and Audio Systems branch of the Electric and Electronic Technologies Department in order to assess the instructional material. The data were analyzed using SPSS 15.0 software on the bases of learnability, responsibility, motivation, controllability, design, and contentment factors.
