This study was carried out in a descriptive way with the aim of investigating health beliefs early detection behaviors of young adult seasonal agricultural workers towards testicular cancer. It was conducted at Nihat Demirelli Family Health Center, Şanlıurfa between November 2013 - April 2014. The sample group of the study included 300 individuals. For data collection, a descriptive questionnaire form was used along with the Health Belief Model Scale of Champion for Testicular Cancer Scans. The dependent variables of the study included scale averages and early detection behaviors for testicular cancer while socio-demographic features, testicular cancer and testicular self-examination were among the independent variables. The SPSS 16.0 software package was used data evaluation. The descriptive statistics used in the analysis of data were T test and chi-square test for independent sample groups. Necessary permissions were obtained from the Ethics Committee of Harran University, the associated organizations and the contributing individuals. The results of the study indicate that 15.3% of the seasonal agricultural workers have heard about testicular cancer, 6.3% of them had at least once performed testicular self-examination whereas 97.2% of the individuals stated not having a testicular self-examination due to being uninformed about it. It was observed that the individuals received the highest point from the sensitivity perception sub-dimension among the health belief model scale sub-dimensions point averages (11.42 ± 5.36) while the lowest point being from the benefit perception sub-dimension (9.39 ± 2.36). It was determined that the socio-demographic characteristics of the individuals did not influence performing testicular self-examination (p>0.05). It was detected that the marital status influenced the benefit perception whereas the education level effected the benefit and obstacle perceptions (p<0.05). As a result, the study revealed that the percentage of the seasonal agricultural workers' who were informed about and performed testicular self-examination was not at a preferred level. Therefore, health educations should be planned and practiced to increase the awareness for testicular cancer and testicular self-examination and these programs should be implemented in their work environment since the seasonal agricultural workers may have difficulties in accessing health services.Key Words: Testicular cancer, testicular self-examination, seasonal agricultural labor, nursing.
