Technological developments, which have evolved from the time people first existed on earth, change life more and more every day. The most intense period of these developments was the Industrial Revolution, which began in England in the second half of the 18th century and later influenced the whole world. In this period, new inventions emerged, mechanization and production increased rapidly, and the physical environment changed as a result of migrations from rural to urban areas. The increase and diversification of technological developments led to the period known as the Informatics Revolution at the end of the 20th century. While the Industrial Revolution expanded mechanization and mass production, the Informatics Revolution brought about processes such as artificial intelligence, electronic commerce, electronic business and online life. Technological developments in recent years have been manifested in housing design and production as well as in every field of human life and technical features of houses have started to change. A sustainable ''Smart Home'' proposal, which offers a safer, more comfortable and more efficient environment that facilitates life at home, in order to save time, energy and living costs, in short, to improve the quality of life, has emerged in this process. Physical factors such as temperature, humidity and light are controlled in smart homes. The first smart home was built in 1950 by inventor Emil Mathias in Michigan in the United States. This first smart home was able to respond to the needs of homeowners through the use of technology, made their lives easier and offered aixsafer, more comfortable and economic life. Home automation involves the implementation of these technologies according to the specific needs and wishes of the users. Today, the types of smart homes are houses which are controlled by remote control, programmable houses, homes with scenario. Smart homes with artificial intelligence are being developed at present. Because of the scarcity of theoretical and practical studies on this subject in Turkey, this research is expected to provide a significant contribution to the field of architecture and technology through smart homes.Key words: Smart Home, Home Automation, Architecture and Technology, Energy Saving, Quality of Lif.
