Lean thinking increases day by day in our country as it is in the world. Lean principles are gaining importance in the production sector and firms want to integrate lean manufacturing techniques into their production processes. In this sense, value stream mapping plays an important role for many companies in transitioning to lean production. The contents and resources of this thesis are taken from a furniture factory which produces young, children and infant rooms. Although a wide variety of products are produced, this thesis concentrates on cradle production. The purpose of this study is analyzing and producing solutions to waste related problems in the entire production process by considering the cradle product family. The case study was carried out within the scope of the thesis. The data were collected studying the factory site, interviewing with the departments, and analyzing company documents. The value stream mapping method is used to improve the production process. The system was examined and the current state map was constructed. By this method, waste sources are determined in the factory. Future state map has been created by analysis and calculations and new methods have been proposed for more efficient results. Recommended methods are supermarket system, cellular production, CONWIP, continuous flow and sequential pull systems. 5S applications are proposed for the right implementations of these methods and effective results.
