Owing to its unique features and new applications continually being developed by its users, the internet is a technology which has a special potential to make the news production and sharing processes more democratic, participatory, pluralist and free. Acknowledging that this is a potential opportunity rather than a given situation or a fact, this study has questioned to what extent the internet can fulfill this promised potential in the case of Turkey and Turkish blogosphere.A current paradigm shift in the historical development of the internet serves as a starting point for this study. In this new era called web 2.0, the internet users, formerly known as audience or readers, are actively participating in various stages of news and information production and sharing processes through blogs and other emerging web-based services and applications. In this way, the internet users are sharing a role that used to be unique to the professional media and appear as intervener in the activity area of professional journalism. This blur of the boundaries between the journalists - readers / audience in the era of web 2.0, is what makes the blogs such an attractive object of research and is worth discussing by several aspects. This study has analyzed the main properties of Turkish political blogs and political blogging in Turkey and the relation of these political blogs with professional journalism and professional media. The data used in the study were gathered from in-depth interviews conducted with the bloggers and from the content analysis of blog posts. This study has discussed a series of issues such as intersection and separation areas of blogging and journalism and the mutual positions of blogosphere and professional media.
