The purpose of my thesis is to analyze 17th century scholar Khodja Hüseyin Efendi?s work called Bedâyiü?l-vekâyi. The thesis focuses on pages 446a?482b and comprises of seven parts. The section in question deals with the Ottoman conquests during the reign of Sultan Selim I (Yavuz Sultan Selim); suppression of Kurdish, Circassian and Kizilbash uprisings; and Ottoman-Mamluk Battles in Gaza, Ridaniya and Marj Dabiq. In the introduction, general information about the author and his work is given, and the scope of this thesis is explained. The second part discusses the reasoning behind choosing Bedâyiü?l-vekâyi as the topic of this thesis. Summaries are given in a way to be compatible with the titles in the text to provide coherence. The titles are written in the original format, and the personal names and names of places are written in present-day format. The third part analyzes the specific linguistic choices of the transitional period in the Ottoman history. The text was read according to the phonetics indicated in the text. In cases where no indication of the phonetics was provided by the text, the reading was done according to the standard Old Anatolian Turkish grammar. In the examinaton of ?ki` sentences in the fourth part of the thesis, the ?ki` sentences were reformulated according to the syntax of modern Turkish, and this way, the auxiliary `ki` clauses were incorporated into the main sentence. This way, it was possible to see the syntactic funcion of the `ki` clauses. The fifth part gives the transcription of the original text in the Latin alphabet, and the sixth part provides the index of the text. The meaning of every entry in the index is given. In the last section a facsimile copy of the original text is reproduced. All the research is based on pages 446a?482b of Bedâyiü?l-vekâyi.
