This study is prepared to analyze the master theses investigating the effects of educational computer games, which are commonly become prevalent around the world and started to be applied in our country, such as on academic success, performance, efficient and permanent learning, and student attendances and present the common results of these theses. This study is original since it provides genuine literature about the topic of educational computer games and collects together most of the master theses' written on this field in Turkey. It could be a guide about finding new and significant subjects and methods, for the ones whom are going to make researches on educational computer games.Qualitative research design had been applied in this study. Document analysis was used as data collection method. The master theses has been investigated which are directly about educational computer games and able to be reached via thesis database of The Higher Education Council. Twenty five master theses about educational computer games had been selected for the study. These theses were subjected to content analysis in terms of studies' demographic information, research methods and designs, observed variables, educational computer games used, which lessons and subjects focused, which age group and which grade level handled, instrumentation, data analysis methods, conclusions and implications. In this study, it has been seen that the number of studies about educational computer games have increased since 2007 and most studies have been done in the science institute, least studies have been done in the social science institute. Studies are mostly focused on mathematics and mostly examined academic achievement and motivation variables. It was observed more than half of the studies examined were done with primary and middle school students (8-14 age groups). Eighty percent of the studies used experimental research models and almost all the studies collected data through achievement tests, scales or questionnaires. Most of the master theses concluded that the instruction supported by educational computer games yields more positive results than did the traditional method in terms of academic success and the motivation of the students toward the lessons. As a result, it is concluded that the instruction with educational computer games are more enjoyable, and this kind of games could be used for instructional purposes as a complementary and enhancing activity.
