At the end of the 1960s and the beginning of the 1970s a new division of labor emerged throughout the world particularly in Western Europe. The decline of industry as a prominent economic sector and the emergence of information-intensive activities as a driving force of the economy are among the main reasons for this change. This transformation can be easily traced in developed countries, especially in USA and UK. While there is a rapid decline in industrial employment in these countries, there is a clear trend towards the service sector. In developed countries, the service sector constitutes 80% of total employment, while in Turkey this ratio is around 55%. İn addition to this, for the service sector to act as an economic force in cities, regions as well as countries, it is necessary to bear certain conditions. The service sector can be divided into classes within itself. İn simple classification, the service sector is divided as information intensive services and less information intensive services.Within Knowledge Intensive Service Services, the transformation of Knowledge Intensive Business Services (KIBS) from other services to information-driven productivity and value-added services is very important in order to maintain high income and high financial capacity in the region. In this context, the purpose of this thesis is to demonstrate the spatial distribution of KIBS between 2009-2015 using the employment indicator of level-2 regions in Turkey, to observe the change, and in particular to analyze the distance and concentration of NUTS activities in Ankara scale using the ArcGIS program.By using survey method, the location selection, network relation of innovation-capacity, information production and transfer of KIBS firms in Çankaya district of Ankara province will be analyzed. By doing so it is aimed to redefine the spatial pattern emerging in the metropolitan area.According to the analyzes, TR51 Ankara is the most important region after Istanbul in the activities of the KIBS. In addition, the Çankaya district, which is the central district within the Ankara region, contains about 70% of the KIBS activities. In another analysis made according to the firm size, the professional KIBS firms prefer the MIA as the location, while the technical KIBS firms prefer to outside the MIA such as the Technology Development Zones and the OIZs.Another important issue for KIBS activities is the innovation capacities. P-KIBS firms are less innovative because of their culture, structure and service they produce using Synthetic and Symbolic knowledge base, T-KIBS firms are more innovative. Keywords: Knowledge Intensive Business Services, Professional-KIBS, Technical-KIBS, Innovation, Location Preferences, Urban Economy, Ankara.
