In this study, contact and stomach poising toxicities, antifeedant and antiovipoisition effects of ten plant extracts were tested on the Egyptian cotton leafworm (Spodoptera littoralis). Tanacetum zahlbruckneri extract produced the greatest contact toxicity among the tested plant extracts with 91% mortality. In the second part of the contact toxicity study, flower and stem extracts of T. zahlbruckneri using methanol and hexan were prepared and tested on the Egyptian cotton leafworm. Flower methanol extracts was the most toxic extract with 0.039 mg/insect LD50 value. Additionally, various larval stages of S.littoralis susceptibility to T. zahlbruckneri extracts were tested. The 2nd stage larvae appeared to be the most susceptible to the extract among the tested stages. Various oils were tested as synergist to T. zahlbruckneri extracts. Anethum gravieolens was the most active synergist among the tested oil and it increased the contact toxicity of the extracts in all larval stages. Chrysanthemum segetum, Delphinium consilida and Tanaectum mucroniferum were the most toxic extracts in stomach poising toxicity study. LD90 values based on dose response studies with these extracts were 0.35 mg/cm2, 0.43 mg/cm2 and 0.79 mg/cm2 respectively. In the antifeedant effects study, C. segetum, D. consilida, T. mucroniferum and Artemisia vulgaris were the most active extracts. A. vulgaris was the most active extract in antioviposition study and it totally inhibited the egg laying of female S. littoralis. The most active extract in attractant activity was obtained from Datura stramonium (30%).
