This thesis titled `Negative Theology from Traditional to Deconstruction` covers the comparison between the idea of conventional negative theology and the idea of postmodern negative theology, and deconstructionist evaluation thereof. The main goal of this thesis is to discuss whether negative theology, which is considered to be one of the ways God is re-introduced into human experience today which is when we discuss this re-introduction, could be an alternative to positive theology, and whether it could overcome the problems brought about by positive theology. Thus, the most important point for the first part of the study is to discover the aspects in which positive theology is problematized in negative theology. In this regard, a speculative remembrance of negative theology in the light of the relevant scriptural and philosophical texts has been regarded necessary in order to observe the formation process of a systematic negative theology, and to know the background its main arguments are based on. Discussion of the probability or improbability network of speaking of God within the context of religious and philosophical texts which are considered essential to the negative theology concept further allows for a comparison between conventional and postmodern positive theology criticisms. The second part of the thesis features a re-evaluation of negative theology, which can be interpreted as a revolt against the dominant positive theology, within the framework of deconstruction strategy. Here we discuss how negative theology, which is in the periphery of religion as it preserves the idea of God different from conventional religious discourses, but still a transcendent one, has now begun to be associated with Derrida's deconstruction strategy and then how it has been transformed. This part founded on the basis of the claim that Derrida is attempting to re-substitute negative theology with `différance` and the discussion that he is called the `negative theologian` of postmodernism may indeed be regarded as a discussion on the negative theology problem as a means of anti-ontotheology. The third and last part of the thesis reveals from the conclusions of the second part that negative theology has today gone beyond investigating the possibility and nature of speaking of God. This conclusion in turn has it that negative theology has become a specific term for openness to the other with an uprootedness (deracination) movement opposing any theological or philosophical determination. At this point, indication of an experience of absence by the negation used to emphasize God's unknowable primacy and superiority has been considered within the framework of Derrida's concept of (in) hospitality and the (destructive) mysticism. In conclusion, the present dissertation harbors the aim of discussing the past and future answers in terms of conventional and post-deconstructionism negative theology to the modern question of God, and providing a comprehensive perspective of today's negative theology as a process in progress.
