In internal combustion engines, the higher the fuel air density, the bigger power of motor is. This is because of enhancement of the increment of the charge value in the cylinder for every power cycle. Therefore with catching the fuel with high density, the amount of energy level in motor is increased. It results in generating of high engine power in the kinds of motors with reduced cylinder volume. Furthermore this condition causes reduction of the mechanical loss which leads to enhancement of internal combustion engine mechanical efficiency. According to mentioned effect, turbochargers are now used in almost all of the diesel engines to increase engine power output. The aim of the use of turbocharger is to increase the power output from the engine with smaller cylinder volume by increasing the amount of fuel-air mixture. Turbochargers can increase the intake pressure from 0,4 up to 3,0 bar. It means that the using of turbochargers can increase the boost pressure and the engine performance by about 50 %. This enhancement is very crucial for internal combustion engines. In this thesis, under engine operation conditions, reduction of high pressure levels of compressor, smoothly starting or stopping of turbochargers by the means of wastegate and actuator operation have been carried out using optimization procedure. In this study, based on four-cylinder Ford diesel engine specification, the professional programs called CONCEPTS NREC were applied for modeling procedure. A turbocharger comprises the compressor and the turbine component. By consideration of compressor and turbine operation and their critical points (SURGE and CHOKE), the turbocharger design is accomplished to obtain the maximum engine efficiency. Under the varying motor conditions regarding load and speed, the performance of turbocharger was investigated by above mentioned programs. In the present work, the flow analyses of inlet air and outlet exhaust gases through the turbocharger were carried. In addition the existing of the boundary layers around the blades was studied. Thus the primary design and analysis of crude engines can be accomplished by means of relevant programs.
