Atmospheric evaporation demand on crop water consumption has been presented by reference evapotranspiration. Crop water consumption was estimated by multiplying reference evapotranspiration with crop coefficients depending on crop growth stage. Recently, FAO 56 Penman-Monteith method was offered as a sole standard method to estimate reference evapotranspiration. Regional Angstrom coefficients are required to estimate ETo of any region. Therefore, one of purposes of this study is to obtain regional Angstrom coefficient of the provinces of The Central Anatolian Region in Turkey. Long term related meteorological records belong to the provinces were supplied from Turkish Meteorological General Directorate. As a result, monthly Angstrom coefficients of Kayseri, Ankara, Kırıkkale, Kırşehir, Aksaray, Yozgat, Niğde and Karaman provinces were determined. Angstrom coefficients of Konya, Nevşehir, Çankırı and Eskişehir were not determined due to lack of related radiation data. So, recommended coefficients (as= 0.25 and bs= 0.50) by FAO 56 procedure were used to calculate ETo of the last four provinces. Frequency analysis of long-term monthly evapotranspiration data were performed and reference evapotranspiration values at 5%, 10%, 25%, 50%, 75% and 95% probability were determined and frequency equations of ETo were presented for these provinces. Sivas province had the lowest annual ETo as 1004 mm while Niğde province had the greatest value as 1609 mm. Annual ETo values in Central Anatolian Region were found 14.5-39.8% higher than ones presented by the Guidelines of Evapotranspiration of Irrigated Crops in Turkey. Key Words: Reference evapotranspiration, Black Sea Region, Angstrom coefficients and frequency analysis.
