Özet

In today?s global world, what determines the competitive strength of a firm or sector is the technological development. Technological development is defined as all the innovations which provide acquiring the same amount of product using less production factor or factors, or acquiring more products or more quality products using the same amount of production factor. Thus, the more the firms have the knowledge, skills and competence (technological capability) to implement the innovation, the more competitiveness that firm has.The importance of the technological capability leads the countries to generate and apply policies in science and technology. Although science and technology policies applied by the states are important, the main actors of technological development are the firms. The firms? endeavors towards technological capability are the main determiners of technological development. In this study, the relationship between technological capability and competitiveness has been analyzed by an application on textile firms. According to the results acquired, the firms with higher technological capability are able to produce less costly, higher quality and a wide range of goods and are able to deliver the orders in a shorter time. Also, export performances of the firms are affected positively from the technological capability. These results support the claim ?technological innovation affect competitiveness positively? as indicated by the studies in literature.
