The painting art, which first began to be seen on the surface of the cave, was one of the means used to convey and strengthen the missions of cultures, beliefs and powers. The art of painting, which has undergone a developmental phase in every period of European art, has brought the primary branch of artistic expression especially in the Renaissance. In Renaissance, the art of painting has acquired new techniques and aesthetic perception. Firstly with Manierism and then with Baroque, the art of painting seperated from classical lines and adopted a new understanding of art which has a very dynamic and theatrical narrative in contrast to stability in classical lines. The Baroque period, one of the most intense periods of this dynamic narrative, is an important period in European art with its highly free expression although the understanding of art based on Hellenistic Antiquity is the expression of anti-reformation and the unifying world of opposite emotions. Baroque art was also the period in which women artist's prominence started to be felt.Artemisia Gentileschi is one of the most important women artists in Baroque period.
