The Effects of Education Concerning Breast Milk and Breastfeeding During Antenatal Period on Breastfeeding Success and Breastfeeding Self-Efficacy The research was reviewed for the purpose of mothers' breast milk and breastfeeding education given in the antenatal period. The research population constitued by 40 education and 40 control in a total of 80 pregnants that were registered in the Bandırma State Hospital gynecology clinics and which were agree with research criteria and accept to participate to the research but due to the inability to reach some of pregnancies during the research and the admission of some newborns to the hospital, the research was complited with 67 mothers and her babies. For collecting data, sociodemographic data form, breastfeeding self-efficacy scale-short form, LATCH breastfeeding assessment tool were used to collect data in group of 4 - 5 persons in the education group, the mothers' breast milk and breastfeeding education was given in the third trimester by the researcher in the pregnant of the hospital for a total of four hours in 2 sessions and the education brochure prepared by the researcher was given to them. When first week after the postpartum was completed, breastfeeding self-efficacy perception and breastfeeding success of the mothers in the education and control group were evaluated. The data of the study were collected between November 2016- June 2017. In the evaluation of the data, correlation analysis, Chi-square analysis, Fisher exact test, Pearson chi-square analysis, Mann Whitney U test were used. In the study, the average of breastfeeding self-efficacy score of the mothers in the education group was higher than the control group and statistically significant diffirence was found between them (p<0.05). In the study, the average of LATCH score of the mothers in the experimental group was higher than the control group and statistically significant diffirence was found (p<0.005). It was also found that when mother's breastfeeeding self-efficacy perception increased, breastfeeding success increased too (p<0.005, r=0.345). As a result, it was detected that breastfeeding self-efficacy perception and breastfeeding success of mothers receiving breastfeeding and breast milk education were posively effected.Key Words: Breastfeeding success, breastfeeding education, breastfeedingself- efficacy, breast milk, antenatal period.
