Experiment I (The effect of broiler breeder flock age and litter brooding temperature in the first two days on broiler performance):This experiment was conducted to determine the effect of flock age (27 wk: young; 37 wk: prime) and litter brooding temperature in the first two days (normal: 34-32°C, and cool: 26-28°C) on broiler performance. A total of 546 chicks, which were determined hatch time, were used in this experiment. Chicks from young flock had a lower feed consumption and BW at 35th day than prime flock (P<0.05). Although cool brooding temperature reduced feed consumption at first two days and BW at 7d (P<0.05), but there was no significant effects on BW and feed consumption at 35d (P>0.05). Mortality at 35th day was affected by flock age X litter temperature and hatch time X litter temperature. The mortality was high on the late hatched chicks and chicks from young flock which had cool brooding temperature in the first two days (P<0.05).Experiment II (The effect of egg storage length and litter brooding temperature in the first two days on performance of chicks from young breeders):This experiment was conducted to determine the effect of egg storage length (short: 5 d; long: 12 d) and litter brooding temperature in the first two days (normal: 34°C, and cool: 28°C) on broiler performance. A total of 1596 fertile eggs from 26-27 wk old breeder flock for incubation and a total of 588 chicks for broiler performance were used in this experiment. Hatchability of fertile eggs of long storage length was found lower and early and late embryonic mortality was found higher than short storage length group (P<0.05). Chicks from short egg storage period group hatched earlier than chicks from other groups (P<0.05). Although the chicks whose short egg storage length showed higher slaughtering weight, any difference was seen between FCR ratios. Chicks from short egg storage length had a lower feed consumption at 35d than long egg storage length group (P<0.05). Mortality of cool litter temperature condition and long egg storage period groups at 35d was found higher than warm litter temperature condition and short egg storage period groups respectively. Differences were not important.Experiment III (The effect of egg weight and egg pre-warming on hatchability and broiler performance of chicks from young breeders):This experiment was conducted to determine the effect of egg weight (egg weight average; light: 49.61 gr, mixed: 52.37 gr and heavy: 55.13 gr) and egg pre-warming (low: 26°C for 8 h and high: 29°C for 12 h) on hatchability and broiler performance. A total of 1176 fertile eggs from 27 wk old breeder flock for incubation and a total of 312 chicks for broiler performance were used in this experiment. According to the study, egg weight and pre-warming had no effect on hatchability. Late embryonic mortality of mixed egg weight group was significantly higher than other egg weight groups (P<0.05). In addition, embryonic mortality was low when light eggs had low pre-incubation and heavy eggs had high pre-warming. Chicks from light egg weight or high pre-warming group hatched earlier than chicks of other groups(P<0.05). At 35th day of experiment, no effect of egg weight and egg pre-warming was found on BW. Also, interaction between egg weight and egg pre-warming were effective, when light eggs had low and heavy eggs had high pre-warming, higher BW were determined (P<0,05). Egg weight and pre-warming had no effect on FCR and mortality.
