Özet

In this study that we investigate the transformations of the concept ofimage through the historical process and the underlying reasons of thesetransformations, we tried to elucidate that the concept of image has beenrejected as an indicator in today?s society, which is called ?postmodern?, andthrough what stages it passed to evolve into the meaning of ?dream? that isembedded inside the Turkish corresponding word ?imge?, in the framework ofthe capitalist concept of commodity. Thus, the main theme of the studyconsists of the transformations of postmodern understanding of image and inconsideration to the parallelism between the capitalist concept of commodityand image transformations, the study aims to show the thesis that capitalistcommodity has to build itself as an image. Taking into consideration theparallelism between commodity building itself by showing what it does nothave as if it does and the loom large of image in industry advertising, itseems possible to conclude that the transformation of the concept of imagefrom representation to dream is a modern phenomenon and that as a result, enormous development in image industry is one of the generations ofcapitalist commodity production. If commodities gain value by image, imagesmake themselves apparent via their commodities.Key Words1. Image2. Commodity Fetishism3. Identity4. Modernism5. Postmodernism.

İmaj kavramının tarihsel süreç içindeki dönüşümlerini, bu dönüşümlereetki eden belirleyicileri soruşturduğumuz bu çalışmada, imaj kavramının?postmodern? olarak adlandırılan günümüz toplumlarında göstergekonumundan ıskata edilip, Türkçe karşılığı olan imge sözcüğündeki ?hayal?anlamına hangi veçhelerden geçerek evrildiğini, kapitalist meta kavramıylaolan ilişkileri çerçevesinde açımlamaya çalıştık. Dolayısıyla çalışmanın esaskonusunu postmodern imge anlayışının dönüşümleri teşkil etmekte vekapitalist meta üretimi ile imgenin dönüşümleri arasındaki paralellik gözönünde bulundurularak, kapitalist metanın kendisini bir imge olarak inşaetmesinin zorunlu bir şey olduğu tezi ispat edilmeye çalışılmaktadır. Metanınkendisinde olmayanı varmış gibi göstererek inşa etmesiyle, sanayireklamcılığında imgenin ön plana çıkması arasındaki paralellik göz önünealındığında imaj kavramının temsilden hayale dönüşümünde yaşanankırılmasının modern bir görüngü olduğunu ve imaj endüstrisinde yaşananmuazzam gelişmenin nihayetinde kapitalist meta üretiminin doğurgularındanbirisi olduğunu söylemek mümkün gözükmektedir. Eğer metalar imgeyledeğer kazanıyorlarsa imgelerde kendilerini metaları aracılığıyla görünürkılmaktadırlar.Anahtar Sözcükler1. İmaj2. Meta Fetişizmi3. Kimlik4. Modernizm5. Postmodernizm.
