The aim of this study is to determine the effects of different tillage system on soil, emergence and yield characteristics of safflower in Sivas province. In the study, the most soil tillage system was determined in terms of soil, plant emergence and yield parameters by applying the conventional and conservational tillage methods in a farm of Kavak village of Gürün district during the 2017 safflower cultivating season. Two varieties of safflower (Linas and Remzibey-05) were used in the experiments. In this study, the tillage systems were applied as TİS-1 (the conventional tillage system: moldboard plough+cultivator-float+planter), TİS-2 (conservational tillage system-1: goble disc+planter), TİS-3 (conservational tillage system-2: chisel+disc harrow+planter), TİS-4 (conservational tillage system-3: no-till). Soil moisture content, bulk density and penetration resistance values for 0-15 cm and 15-30 cm soil depth were higher in no till than the other soil tillage systems at post-planting and post-harvest measurements. The highest and lowest mean emerged dates (OÇS) for Linas and Remzibey-05 safflower cultivars were obtained from TIS-1 and TIS-4 applications, while the highest and lowest emerged rate index values were obtained from TIS-4 and TIS-1 applications, respectively. The highest safflower seed yield was found in TIS-1 application with 88.55 kg da-1 for Linas cultivar, and 84.50 kg da-1 for Remzibey-05, while the lowest seed yield was found 62.83 kg da-1 for Linas and Remzibey-05 varieties, respectively 59.93 kg da-1 was in TİS-4 no till application. As a results of this study, the soil, plant emergence, and yield parameters of the safflower were affected by applied soil tillage systems.
