As the literature is reviewed for theory and numeric samples, most ofconceptions argue that the capital structure has effects on firm?s profitability andmarket value.Capital structure-financial performance interaction dimensioned study therelationship between capital structure and cost of capital, the effects of optimal levelof equity and the composition of target capital structure appropriate for the firm onthe firm performance has been investigated.Together with the classic approaches in the finance literature related to capitalstructure such as net revenue, net operating revenue other theoretical approaches arealso considered. Modigliani Miller approach is supposed to be the startup and otherapproaches are evaluated as the post Modigliani Miller theoretical views.In the first chapter the concepts of capital, capital structure and capitalstructure components have been explained conceptually. In the second chaptertheoretical approaches related to the capital structure have been argued out. In thethird chapter theoretical information concerning the concept of performance andperformance measurement have been undertaken. In the fourth chapter the financialperformance of 22 food manufacturer has been analyzed by 2000-2005 data.Consequently it is aimed at determining the impacts of capital structure on theperformance in this study.Firms utilize financial analysis and financial controls in performancemeasurements. By these measurements the efficiency and success degrees of firmsare obtained. In this context the degree of goal achievements of firms are determined.Through those examinations debt payout capability and growth rate of firms areestablished. Those examinations can be used for preparing future plans, auditing andevaluation of firm operations and for establishing strategies.Recognition of firms? performance pertains to the shareholders, managers,creditors, tax associations and auditors. Parties make use of financial statements toexamine the firms? performance. In the last chapter of the study the relationshipbetween the control variables of growth, growth rates, tax shelter, tax rate and theprofitability, the so-called performance indicator of firms, are analyzed. Sermaye yapısına ilişkin finans literatürü teorik ve sayısal örneklemleryönünden incelendiğinde, literatürde yer alan birçok görüş; sermaye yapısınınişletmenin karlılığı ve piyasa değeri üzerinde etkili olduğunu savunur yöndedir.Sermaye yapısı ? finansal performans etkileşimi yönlü bu çalışmamda;sermaye yapısının sermaye maliyetiyle ilişkisi, borçlanma ve öz sermayeninoptimum düzeyiyle işletmeye uygun hedef sermaye yapısının oluşturulmasınınişletme performansına etkisi incelenmiştir Sermaye yapısına ilişkin net gelir, netfaaliyet geliri gibi klasik yaklaşımlar yanında diğer kuramsal yaklaşımlara yerverilmiştir. Modigliani Miller çalışmaları milat olarak varsayılmış, diğer yaklaşımlarModigliani Miller sonrası kuramsal görüşler olarak değerlendirilmiştir.Teorik olarak birinci bölümde, sermaye, sermaye yapısı ve sermaye yapısıöğeleri kavramsal olarak açıklanmıştır. İkinci bölümde sermaye yapısına ilişkinkuramsal yaklaşımlar verilmiştir. Üçüncü bölümde performans kavramı veperformans ölçümüne ilişkin teorik bilgilere yer verilmiştir. Dördüncü bölümde 22gıda üreticisi işletmenin finansal performansı 2000 -2005 verileriyle analizedilmiştir. Bu çalışmada sonuç olarak sermaye yapısının performans üzerindekietkilerine ulaşılmaya çalışılmıştır.İşletmeler performans ölçümlerinde finansal analiz ve finansal kontrollerdenyararlanır. Bu ölçümlerle firmaların etkinlik ve başarı dereceleri bulunur. Bubağlamda firmaların hedeflerine ulaşma düzeyleri belirlenmiş olur. Yapılanincelemeler sayesinde firmaların borç ödeme güçleri ve büyüme oranları saptanır. Buincelemeler geleceğe yönelik planların hazırlanmasında firma faaliyetlerinin denetimve değerlendirilmesinde stratejilerin saptanmasında kullanılabilir.İşletmelerin performanslarının bilinmesi, ortakları, yöneticileri kreditörleri,vergi kurumlarını, denetçileri ilgilendirir. Taraflar işletmelerin performanslarınıinceleyebilmek için finansal tablolardan yararlanırlar. Araştırmanın son bölümündebüyüme, büyüme oranları, borç dışı vergi kalkanı, vergi oranı gibi kontroldeğişkenleriyle işletmelerin performans belirleyicisi olan karlılık ilişkisiincelenmiştir.
