Ondokuz Mayıs University, Institute of Social Sciences Department of Sociology February/2018 Advisor: Associate Professor Selim EREN Crime is a social problem. Wherever there is a human being, there is a possibility of criminal behavior. Along with migrations, families which have come to big cities have begun to disintegrate slowly. Extended families began to disappear giving way to nuclear families. Nuclear family has also broken up into small pieces within itself. It became probable to get involved in crime for children who cannot keep up with these changes. The risk for attempting crime increases within individuals who are influenced negatively from urban life. Accordingly, urbanization and changes in family structures have negative effects on juvenile delinquency. The present study was conducted to understand how the changes in urbanization and family structure after 1980 influenced juvenile crime and the fear of crime, and to make suggestions for decreasing the feeling of insecurity created by the fear of crime. The research was carried out using a semi structured interview technique with 40 people selected from Samsun İlkadım and Canik provanca. As a result of the interviews, it can be said that the children do not carry out the crime deliberatively, imitiation has a significant share intentation, the media increases the fear of crime, the fear of crime leads a decrease in the feeling of safe environment, and people carry the fear of getting involved in crime or being a victim of it at any moment in urban life. Besides, it has been understood that the child's Social circle, the school one attends, and its environment have a significant influence on the child's criminal attempts. Also, it is thought that the financial difficulties encountered succeeding the families' migration from village to city and the differences of urban culture make adaptation to urban life much more difficult.Key Words: Crime, Fear of Crime, Juvenile Crime, Urbanization, City.

Suç toplumsal bir sorundur. Nerede bir insan varsa orada suç davranışının ortaya çıkması söz konusudur. Göçlerle beraber büyük kentlere gelen aileler yavaş yavaş çözülmeye başlamıştır. Geniş aile yerini çekirdek aileye bırakmıştır. Yine çekirdek aile de kendi içerisinde parçalara ayrılmıştır. Bu değişimlere ayak uyduramayan çocukların suça karışması muhtemel görülmektedir. Kent hayatından olumsuz etkilenen bireylerin suç işleme riski artmaktadır. Kentleşme ve aile yapılarındaki değişimlerin çocuk suçluluğuna olumsuz etkileri söz konusudur. Yapılan çalışmanın amacı kentleşme ve aile yapılarındaki değişimlerin çocuk suçluluğuna ve suç korkusuna nasıl etki ettiğini anlayabilmek ve suç korkusunun yarattığı güvensizlik hissinin azaltılması yönünde öneriler sunabilmektir. Araştırma, Samsun İli İlkadım ve Canik ilçelerinden seçilen 40 kişi ile yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme tekniği kullanılarak gerçekleştirilmiştir. Yapılan görüşmeler neticesinde, çocukların suçu bilerek işlemediği, özentinin bunda önemli payının olduğu, medyanın suç korkusunu artırdığı, suç korkusunun artması sonucu güvenli ortam düşüncesinin azaldığı, yaşanılan kentlerde her an suça karışılacak ya da suçtan mağdur olunacak hissi taşındığı söylenebilir. Bunun yanı sıra çocuğun arkadaş ortamı, okuduğu okul ve çevresi çocuğun suça karışıp karışmamasında önemli etkiye sahip olduğu anlaşılmıştır. Yine kırdan kente göçle gelen ailelerin yaşadığı maddi sıkıntılar, kent kültürünün daha farklı olması, ailelerin yaşam sürdüğü kente adapte olmalarını zorlaştırdığı düşünülmektedir.Anahtar Kelimeler: Suç, Suç Korkusu, Çocuk Suçluluğu, Kentleşme, Kent.
