ABSTRACT A Study on Seasonal Changes in Sperma Quality of Chios and Karya Type Rams In this study the effect of season, age and genotype on the sperma characteristics of Chios and Karya type rams were investigated. Collected sperma samples were evaluated with respect to volume, progressive sperm motility, percentage of dead spermatozoa, sperm concentration, total number of spermatozoa per ejeculate, percentage of abnormal spermatozoa and head, middle piece and tail abnormalities. Results indicated that sperma production of Chios and Karya type rams continued during the year. However, sperma characteristics showed a seasonal fluctuation. Moreover, Chios and Karya type rams can be used for mating during the whole year. Key Words: Chios, Karya type, sperma concentration, ejeculate volume, seasonal changes.
