In a plenty of verses in Holy Quran, Muslims are asked not to imititate and resemble to the societies lived in history in terms of religious understanding and life-style, by giving examples about their akidevi and morally wrong deeds. Departing from / in accordance with the same approach, Prophet Mohammad warned Muslims not to resemble to the other societies and to imitate them. These warnings of Rasulullah are social and socio-political ones, as well as they have religious implicationsProphet Muhammad envisioned a definite opposition to some of the behaviours of these societies, whereas he ordered not to resemble to some othet behaviours. Thus, he both demonstrated that Islam does not need to the imitation of the erstwhile religions, and aimed at establishing a new culture belonging to new religion. In effort to accomplish this goal, he warned Muslims about the behaviours regarding the apperance such as, dress-style and beard and hair styles ? sociologists call material culture ? whose imitiation and spread are easiest within the society. The other behaviours about which he warned, are behaviours and worships placed an emphasis in these religions as well as some social relationship patterns comprising special religious meaningThe hukm of acting against the orders of the Prophet regarding these issues are determined by Islamic scholars as haram, mekruh, mubah, and mustehab and vajib depending on the varying contexts. Nonetheless none of them asserted that anyone violating these orders would be abjured. This value demonstrates that the Prophet valued the aforementioned issues as much as they worth, and he went by no means to extremesAll in all, he struggled to train the members of the society which he was building, while he prohibited resembling to the members of the other religions. Apart from this, similitude occupies an important place in the inceptions of the cultural interactions. This interaction can take place much easily in the issues pertained to the appearance (material culture). The prohibitions of the Prophet regarding the issue aims at forming and preserving the Islamic culture.

Hz. Peygamber'in konuyla ilgili yasaklamaları, İslâm kültürünü oluşturmaya ve korumaya yöneliktir.
