Özet

The long processes experienced throughout centuries İn Europe brought about modernization which affected all aspects of social life. Later the process started to affect Ottoman State and social life. The intellectuals governing the state firstly adopted this process to themselves especially in the army, then they tried to modernize the public. But since the social dynamics that are peculiar to Turkish society directed the society in a different way, there came out serious opposition to this process compelled by the state. Especially after Turkish Republic era, the state elite were very decisive to modernize the public, but still there was important resistance to this process. When the state didn't manage to modernize the public as they desired, they tried to sustain their current situation in the state, so put barriers in front of democratization especially via coup d'etats. On the other hand the modernization of the public started with village life which was forced by different conditions to change into more complex lifestyle in the cities. After they immigrated to city suburbs, they went into different social relations and economic activities on the way to modernization. They especially gave special importance to education which changed their life dramatically and at the end, they turned back to force the state to change into democracy.
