Cities maintain their presence with undergoing changes caused by constitutive and developmental problems and needs. In this case, it is irrelevant to discuss whether urban transformation, which is inevitably a part of this undeniable change, should be implemented or not, instead it would be more accurate to discuss how to implement it.In terms of sustainable urbanization, it is important that urban transformation actions are implemented within a universally accepted and easily implemented plan just like it should be for conservation and development actions, and it is also important to determine accurately what action and in which way should be taken in which situation.Such as urban problems, urban transformation policies, which are one of the tools for the solution of these problems, are also various. Because the effects of urban transformation policies are felt in medium and long term, their appropriateness for the solution of the problem should be foreseen in advance. Just like incorrect or incomplete medical treatment harms the patient, it is inevitable that improper urban transformation policies can cause damage to the cities. Therefore, unlike constitution and development planning, which are kinds of preventive medicine recipe for the cities, transformation planning should be performed by specialized individuals and groups as a recipe for the treatment of the cities, and the implementation should also be performed again with the same precision.Nevertheless, although urban transformation is a process which is implemented in cases of necessity, and is endured for the sake of the benefit to be obtained after the implementation, it should get the approval of the people who will be affected by the transformation as much as possible on the one hand, and on the other hand urban transformation approaches which consider physical, economic and social dimensions and do not lead to public and urban loss should be preferred. Keywords: Sustainable Urbanization, Urban Transformation, Preferential Planning Approach.
