Özet

The aim of this study is to determine, how tourist guides are affected by the crisis, how effective management they display in the management of crisis as a process and their attitudes towards crises. In this context, information was collected through surveys from 386 tourist guides and the hypotheses established were tested by structural equation modeling. Also, crisis management processes have been examined within the context of demographic factors. As a result of the research, it has been revealed that the crisis management case must be dealt with a holistic view of tourist guides just as it is in businesses. It has been observed that the preparations for each crisis stage directly affect the next stage. In the cases where the process is not holistically evaluated, but there are only preparations focused on a specific stage, it has been revealed that an effective crisis management does not come to fruition and the negative effect of crises on professional life increases. In the evaluations part of the research made within the scope of demographic information, firstly it has been seen that women tour guides display a more successful crisis management than their male colleagues in many cases of crises. In the examination made according to the years of work experience, it has been noticed that years of experience directly affects the rate of impact from crises and as the experience of the individual increases, the ability to manage the crisis increases even more. Finally, it has been observed that the level of education of tourist guides has no significant effect on crisis management.
