The purpose of the present study is to determine the effects of the STEM-based activities about electric circuits on the 7th grade students' academic achievement, motivation for learning science, and science process skills. For this purpose, the activities prepared by the researcher in line with the STEM approach were applied in the `Electric Circuits` unit teaching process in 7th grade science course. The present study is important in terms of providing lesson plans for STEM activities to the literature.In the present study, single-group pre-test and post-test poor experimental pattern, which is among the quantitative research approaches, was used. 50 students from 7th grade, including 23 girls and 27 boys, at a public school in the Central district of Hakkari were participated in the study. The study was implemented in 2018-2019 Academic Year. As a subject Electric Circuits unit was chosen by the researcher to prepare STEM-based lesson plans.There are fourteen STEM-based activities in the electric circuit unit plan prepared by the researcher. To collect the study data, the Academic Achievement Test in Electric, Scientific Process Skills Test and Motivational Scale for Learning Science were applied as pre-test and post-test. The dependent groups t-test and the SPSS Ver. 21 were used to analyze the data. As a result of the study, it was determined that the academic achievement and scientific process skills of the students increased at a significant level, and their motivation to learn science changed positively. As a result of the study, recommendations were made to include STEM based activities in science course plans.

Araştırmanın amacı, ortaokul 7. Sınıf Fen Bilimleri dersi elektrik devreleri ünitesine entegre edilmiş STEM uygulamalarının 7. Sınıf öğrencilerinin elektrik konusundaki akademik başarılarına, fen öğrenmeye yönelik motivasyon ve bilimsel süreç becerilerine etkisini incelemektir. Bu amaçla, 7. Sınıf Fen Bilimleri Dersinde `Elektrik Devreleri` ünitesi öğretim sürecinde STEM yaklaşımına yönelik araştırmacı tarafından hazırlanmış olan etkinlikler uygulanmıştır. Literatüre STEM uygulamalarına yönelik ders planı kazandırılması açısından yapılan çalışma önemlidir.Çalışmada nicel araştırma yaklaşımlarından tek gruplu ön test-son test zayıf deneysel desen kullanılmıştır. Çalışma, 2018-2019 eğitim-öğretim yılının Hakkâri'nin Merkez ilçesine bağlı bir devlet okulunda 7. Sınıfta öğrenim görmekte olan 23 kız 27 erkek olmak üzere toplam 50 öğrenci ile gerçekleştirmiştir. Araştırmacı çalışmayı uygulamak için, STEM eğitim yaklaşımına göre `Elektrik Devreleri` ünitesi ders planı hazırlamıştır. Ders planı içerisinde on dört etkinlik bulunmaktadır. Verileri toplamak için, elektrik başarı testi, bilimsel süreç becerileri testi ve fen öğrenmeye yönelik motivasyon ölçeği ön test ve son test olarak uygulanmıştır. Verileri analiz etmek için SPSS ver.21 programından bağımlı gruplar t-testi kullanılmıştır. Çalışmanın sonucunda öğrencilerin akademik başarılarının ve bilimsel süreç becerilerinin anlamlı bir şekilde artış gösterdiği, fen öğrenmeye yönelik motivasyonlarının pozitif yönde değiştiği bulgusuna ulaşılmıştır. Araştırmanın sonucunda Fen Bilimleri ders planlarında STEM uygulamalarına yer verilmesine yönelik önerilerde bulunulmuştur.
